The 2023 U.S. Championship is a 12-player round-robin featuring some of the strongest players in the USA, who compete for $250,000 in prize money as well as the coveted title of U.S. Champion. If two or more players tie for first place a playoff will be held.
Players receive 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one. Draw offers are not allowed before move 30. Official website: uschesschamps.com

Going to be a hard fight for Volk on short notice. He looked great in the first fight, but now in Islam's backyard and on short notice it should make it even harder for Volk. Love the new Co main event as well.

the Islam vs Volk is a great fight. I would like the original fight just because none of them can have the excuse of late notice. also same thing with Khamzat vs Kamaru. either way great card.
I posted my stats but if anyone is curious. I played 17265 games and 18 were banned for cheating. 0.1% of my games. I assuming maybe 200 games cheated not caught so most likely on average 1.5-2% of games are cheaters

Islam vs Volk is the best match up the UFC can put on. It's Khabib vs Conor level. When you are so closely matched it's almost like Chess, Conor never recovered after that 😢

Man, I hope Volk can pull it off. He's one of my favorites now just for accepting on short notice. First fight was so close.
Islam should take it easy First fight was Volkonovski's to win because he's such an elite evolution of Fitch Serra in a LW package (Volk used to weigh more than those two at rugby despite the two being WW champs/contenders). Unless Volk pulls a Couture (something he didn't do in the first fight) Islam is coming in with a better gauge of his grappling and clinch distance which Islam couldn't expect in the first fight and tried the jab touching strategy utilized by most taller fighters against dangerous short stocky grapplers. Since Islam himself was a grappler with a great jab but no footwork he couldn't do what Miesha Tate did to Rin Nakai in their first fight which was the opening Volk had in the final minutes of the fight but Volk showed he was no Randy Couture. Skill wise, power wise and age wise I am sure he is far better than Randy at this day and age for his weight class but he's like a modern Chess player. Guy just wasn't built from the streets or in Randy's case in the military where he originally boxed despite being known as a Greco alternate. He should have finished Islam then and there and despite all the praise for his IQ he paced the 3rd and 4th when Couture would have pulled what he did in the 5th on those rounds because you want the taller fighter to gas out in the last round even if it risks getting KOes. This is Islam's fight to lose.
